Android Auto 15.0 rolling out now, here’s how to get it!

Summarize This Article:

Google has been painstakingly working on improving your Automotive experience with Android Auto. Early this year, the company released Android Auto 14.0 with notable changes and improvements. Now, they have started rolling out the Android Auto 15.0 update with new theme settings and a better experience.

Despite the jump from version 14 to version 15, the update doesn’t bring major changes, including new naming for Dark and Light theme settings. Apart from that, we can expect bug fixes and performance improvements. The update is also expected to bring glass effects to the borders of the icons, visual effects to the taskbar, notification panel, and some other Material You elements.

When you enter the settings of Google Maps and other navigation apps, you will find that the “Day/Night mode for maps” option gets replaced with “Theme”. It is the main change available on Android Auto 15.0. Google is working on a new Light theme, which is still in the development phase. With the new change, you will now be able to change the themes inside navigation apps to Light mode, while the rest Android Auto interface will remain dark.

Following the previous trends, Google itself didn’t mention any changes in the changelog. We can only expect system-wide enhancements with the new software upgrade. The update is rolling out in different phases, currently available to select users with a broader rollout will begin in the coming days.

Make sure the Android Auto is updated to v14.7.6526 on your smartphone, you will receive the v15.0.6532 update over the air. You can check for the new updates on the Google Play Store. If the update isn’t yet visible on the Play Store, you can sideload the APK manually on your smartphone.

If you want to sideload the new version, you can navigate to APKMirror and download the v15.0.6532 APK. After downloading the APK file, you can head over to the file manager > downloads > and install the downloaded APK on your smartphone.
