Android 16 Beta 2 is now available for Oppo Find X8

The Android 16 Beta 2 is now available for some non-Pixel devices. Oppo has also released the Android 16 Beta 2 for the Oppo Find X8, not the Find X8 series. The Android 16 beta for the Find X8 comes with build number CPH2651_16.0.0.2(EX01). Technically, this is the first Android 16 beta release for the Find X8.

Google is about to complete the Android 16 testing phase and is expected to release the stable Android 16 this quarter. This is also the time when other brands also partner with Google to start testing the upcoming major build on their flagship devices.

This is an early-stage build of Android 16 for the Oppo Find X8, intended for developer use and testing purposes. So, it may contain minor as well as major bugs. Therefore, it is advisable not to install this build unless you are a developer or have the Find X8 as a secondary device.

How to get Android 16 Beta 2 on Oppo Find X8

The Android 16 Beta 2 for the Oppo Find X8 is not based on ColorOS 16. Itโ€™s an early beta build with minimal changes.

Currently, the Android 16 testing opportunity is open to Find X8 users in Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. It might soon expand to other regions. If you own a Find X8 and are interested in installing the Android 16 Beta, here are some crucial points to keep in mind.

  • Device data will be removed on installing Android 16 Beta 2
  • You wonโ€™t be able to adjust font weight
  • Tapping on the Accessibility shortcut may freeze the screen
  • Miracast screencasting is not functioning properly
  • The display may lag when locking the screen

Now letโ€™s see how to install the Android 16 Beta 2 on the Oppo Find X8, assuming itโ€™s available in your region.

  1. First, take a backup of your phone as the process will reset the device.
  2. Make sure your Oppo Find X8 is on version version 15.0.0.506. It will not work on other versions.
  3. Download the Android 16 Beta 2 package for Find X8 (Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia).
  4. Copy the downloaded file to your phone storage. Go to Settings > About device > Version. Tap Build number 7 times to enable developer options.
  5. Now navigate to Settings > About device > Tap the top card > Tap the top-right menu button > Local install. Select the Downloaded zip file and tap extract.
  6. After extraction is complete, tap the Install button and wait for installation.
  7. Then Restart your phone and enjoy testing.

Note from Oppo: The device may unexpectedly enter Recovery Mode during the upgrade. If this occurs, go to Select Language > Format Data Partition > Enter Password. Once the process is complete, check if the device boots normally. If it does, re-enter Recovery Mode and format the data partition again.

If you decide to revert your Oppo Find X8 to the stable ColorOS 15 build, you can follow the same process, but instead of the update zip file, replace it with the Rollback zip file after downloading them from the provided links.
