Windows Insiders on the Canary Channel can now check for a new Insider Preview update. Yes, Microsoft has released a new preview update for Windows 11 users. This new update rolling out comes with the build number 25905. Since this is an update for Insiders on the Canary Channel, a lot of features may or may not work as you expect. But, that doesn’t stop you from knowing what the new Canary Channel update brings to the table.
As it is with Insider builds, there is always a watermark at the bottom right corner of the screen. This time for the Canary Channel insiders, the watermark has now changed from the ZN_RELEASE back to its previous RS_PRELEASE. That is however not the only change in the update. Let’s take a look at the new features as well as changes brought into the new Canary Channel Insider Preview update.
Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25905 – What’s New
Now, let’s take a look at everything new in this Canary Channel build update Microsoft has also released ISO files for those who would like to manually install the new Build 25905 update on their Windows 11 PC.
Dev Drive
This was a feature that was first available for users on the Dev Channel. Dev Drive is a new storage volume that has been created to bring performance improvements when running key developer workloads. Based on the Resilient File System, consists of numerous file system optimizations to meet the developer’s loads and requirements and have better performance when working with developer-specific tools, tasks, and programs.
Backup and Restore Improvements
It’s important to take backups of your Windows 11 PC as and when you might be installing a program that might have some issues which will require you to restore the PC from a backup taken by you on your Windows 11 PC. This update introduces the new Windows backup app the ability to restore pinned apps and also import the Settings taken from your older Windows PC.
Dynamic Lighting
Dynamic Lighting in Windows 11 lets you adjust and manage the RGB of various hardware that is connected to your Windows 11 PC. This means that you no longer have to make use of apps or programs that let you tweak and adjust the RGB lighting effects for devices such as your keyboard, mouse, cabinet fans, and any device that lets you adjust the RGB. Microsoft is working with multiple OEM and ODM partners to bring this functionality baked right away into Windows 11.
Rust in Windows Kernel
Additional security and reliability are essential, especially when running programs written in C or C++. The new update is now shipped with the win32base_rs.sys implementation and we should be seeing more Rust implementation in Windows 11 in future updates to Windows 11. As of now, the update is available to a limited number of Insiders on the Canary Channel.
Arm32 UWMP Apps Lose Support
Any arm32 app or program that you have installed on your Windows 11 will no longer be running after you install the update. You can however still run arm64 apps with no issues. Arm32 apps will get updated from the Microsoft Store with a version that is compatible with your Windows 11 build.
PostAuthehticationAction Support For Terminating Individual Processes
Earlier the PAA was only able to terminate sessions that were only actively logged-in sessions. With a new implementation added to the PAA, you now have the Reset the password, log off the managed account, and terminate any remaining processes There are now more logging event messages that will give you more information about what tasks were done during a certain operation.

Emojis
With the update of our color font format to COLRv1, Windows is now able to display richer emoji with a 3D-like appearance with support coming soon to some apps and browsers. These emoji use gradients to bring the design style that our customers have been asking for. The new emoji will bring more expression to your communications.
Zune
In celebration of Marvel Studios Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, we temporarily re-launched Zune.net last month. We also took the opportunity to fix an issue that was causing some challenges in getting the original Zune drivers to install in Windows 11 with this build in the Canary Channel. So now it should be easier to use your (totally unsupported and still discontinued) Zune on Windows 11. Over time, the fix will make its way through the Insider Channels and eventually to all Windows 11 customers.

Known Issues
- [NEW] This build will not be offered to ASUS devices or PCs with ASUS motherboards.
- [NEW] Ethernet-connected devices may lose network connectivity after updating to this build. Unplugging the ethernet cable and re-plugging the cable in should resolve the issue.
