The gradual upgrade comes out with performance enhancements, bug fixes, language updates, and system-wide enhancements. Alongside the watchOS release, Apple pushed iOS 26.1 to iPhones with a flurry of new features and changes.

Apple is pushing the watchOS 26.1 to compatible Apple Watch models with 23S37 build number. The update weighs approximately 800MB in download size. If your Apple Watch is compatible with watchOS 26, you should receive the new software upgrade. However, you must first update your iPhone to iOS 26.1 to install the latest watchOS version.

While we expected Apple to detail new changes in the release notes, the company kept it brief, only mentioning bug fixes and improvements. Other than that, the new OS adopts the Liquid Glass design elements, Apple Intelligence-powered Workout Buddy, improved smart stack, messages, and more.
