Oppo releases ColorOS 16 update for Oppo A60 and Oppo A5 4G

Oppo has been painstakingly working on expanding the availability of ColorOS 16. The update is already available to flagships, mid-ranger phones, and select affordable models. Today, the company has extended the update to two more affordable phones: Oppo A5 4G and Oppo A60. The update bags a bunch of new features, changes, and improvements to the A-series duo.

Oppo hasn’t yet officially confirmed the rollout for two affordable models; however, a number of users allegedly received the update. Oppo A5 4G is receiving the new software upgrade with CPH2727_16.0.1.301 (EX01) build number, whereas the A60 picks up the new update with CPH2631_16.0.2.400 (EX01) firmware version.

If you own any of these two phones and want to try out the ColorOS 16 on your device, please ensure your phone is running on the latest available software version. In case it is running on the older version, please update it to the newest build from System updates. Keep in mind that ColorOS 16 is a big update, meaning it requires a huge chunk of data for installation; for instance, the update on the A5 4G weighs around 3.3GB in size.

In terms of features and changes, Android 16-based ColorOS 16 update brings a major design overhaul, improved performance, smoother animations, and a plethora of new features and updated system apps. Apart from these changes, the update will bump up the monthly security patch version.

You can request the ColorOS 16 update by navigating to Settings > System & Update > Tap the top of the page > Tap the icon in the top right corner > Beta Program > Release Candidate > Apply Now.

Once done, you will receive the update go back and select the Detect the update option > Download now. That’s it.

Make sure to take a backup before installing the update on your device. Also, charge your phone to at least 50%.
