These Nothing Phones are Confirmed for the Android 16 Update

Nothing usually starts testing the newer version of Android on compatible devices after a few months of public release. Given that Google rolled out Android 16 to the public two months back, when can we expect Nothing to release the Android 16-based Nothing OS 4.0 beta, and which devices are going to receive the new update?

This year, Nothing updated its software policy for select phones. While the company generally offers three major Android updates and four years of security updates, there are a few exceptions. Specifically, the Phone 3a Pro is eligible for three Android updates and six years of security updates. Additionally, the premium Nothing Phone 3 is eligible for five Android updates and seven years of security updates.

The company has a strong record of releasing updates after a few months of the new OS release. During the Nothing Phone 3 launch event, Nothing’s founder, Carl Pie, revealed that the Android 16-based Nothing OS 4.0 update is coming “later this autumn.” While most Nothing phones are eligible for the upcoming Android 16 update, there are a few exceptions.
