Nothing recently announced its Phone (3a) lineup, which consists of two models: the Nothing Phone 3a and the Nothing Phone 3a Pro. These are also the first Nothing devices to feature an optical zoom telephoto lens. The vanilla model has a 2X zoom optical lens, while the Pro has a 3X zoom optical lens.
Nothing Phone 3aโs cameras are solid; you can see more in our full review. But my inner tech nerd couldnโt resist trying different GCam ports to see if we could squeeze out even better results than the stock camera app. And honestly? The difference was surprising. Below, Iโll walk you through how to install them and share some quick comparisons
How to Download and Install Gcam on the Nothing Phone (3a)
Step 1: Download the APK file from the given link.
Step 2: Install the APK file.
Step 3: Grant all the necessary permissions (if asked). You are all good to go now.
Does GCam outperform the stock camera on the Nothing Phone (3a)?
I tried and compared both the stock cameras and GCam on the Nothing Phone 3a. I did so for different conditions and across all the lenses.
The comparison included natural lighting, artificial lighting conditions, and low-light scenarios, using the main lens, ultrawide lens, and telephoto lens.
Though the difference between the procession of stock camera and Gcam is not very huge, Gcam takes the lead in most of the scenarios.
The first noticeable difference is the light control. The stock camera doesn’t control the light well. It sometimes messes up the situation. The Gcam takes the lead here. HDR is also slightly better on the Gcam.
Even in the case of low-light images, Gcam performs significantly better than the stock camera. There’s more detail and light capture. But there’s one area where the stock camera takes the lead, and it is the selfie camera.
The selfies come out too dull on the Gcam. Anyway, here is by side-by-side comparison of the photos taken on both Gcam and stock camera.
