Apple has finally released iOS 18.6 to the public following three beta builds and a release candidate. The latest iOS 18 update brings several improvements and bug fixes. It is available for iPhone XR and newer models.
Alongside iOS 18.6, Apple has also released some other updates today, including iPadOS 18.6, watchOS 11.6, tvOS 18.6, macOS Sequoia 15.6, macOS Sonoma 14.7.7, macOS Ventura 13.7.7, and visionOS 2.6.
iOS 18.6 comes with the build number 22G86 and has a download size of around 800MB, though the size may vary depending on your device.
As expected, iOS 18.6 focuses primarily on bug fixes and performance improvements. This is because iOS 26 will soon take over, and this may be one of the final updates for iOS 18. Still, it’s an important release since it also brings security enhancements. For users updating from iOS 18.5 as it also includes a modem for improved connectivity and network performance.
Although the update is rolling out to iPhone XR and newer, it won’t be available for users who have already installed iOS 26 or opted into the iOS 26 beta in the software update page. That’s because you’re already on a newer build. In this case, to get the iOS 18.6 update, you would first need to downgrade your device to iOS 18.5.
To check for the update, go to Settings > General > Software Update. If you’ve enrolled in any beta profile, make sure to disable it. Before installing the latest iOS 18.6, make sure to take a backup of your iPhone, which could come in handy in many situations.
