QUICK ANSWER

For wireless connection, you can use the Steam Link app with Remote Play feature to screen share Steam Deck to Monitor or Smart TV.
The preferred method is to use HDMI with Steam Deck dock or a Type C to HDMI adapter/hub. Once you connect both devices with HDMI, your Steam Deck screen will be shared to Monitor or TV.

3 Methods to Screen Share Steam Deck to Monitor

There are three ways that you can follow to share your Steam Deck’s screen with your monitor or TV. One method requires you to make use of the Steam Link app, and the other method is by using an HDMI cable. Yes, there is a wireless as well as a wired method. So you can easily choose what works best for you.

Method 1: Using the Steam Link App

Using the Steam Link, you can screen share Steam Deck to monitor or TV wirelessly. Do note that this method will work only for your particular TV brand and OS has support for the Steam Link app. Along with Apple TV, a lot of Android TV and Google TV OS powered smart TVs can download the Team Link app from the Google Play Store. Additionally, certain Samsung TV models also support the Steam Link app. Monitor working as PC will also work.

Follow these steps to set up and use Steam Link on your TV.

  1. First, switch on your TV and connect it to your Wi-Fi network.
  2. Now, head into the app store for your TV and download the Steam Link app. If you have a PC, download install Steam Link from here.
  3. Grab your Seam Deck and ensure that it is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as that of your TV or PC.
  4. Open the Settings menu on your Steam Deck and select Remote Play. Ensure to enable Remote Play.

With the above settings done on the Steam Deck, it’s time to set up the Steam Link app on your TV.

  1. Launch the Steam Link app on your smart TV or Monitor.
  2. Tap on Start Playing option and you will get a code.

  5. For good performance you will need a stable internet connection.

Note: This method will work with many devices such as Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, Android Phone/Tablet, Android TV, Google TV, Windows, Mac, Linux, Meta Quest 2 and later, and Raspberry Pi 3+.

And this is how you can easily screen share Steam Deck to monitor or smart TV without any wire. Now, this is good for those who have a TV that has support for the Steam Link app. But, what if your TV is not a smart TV or is a TV that has no support for the Steam Link app? What do you do? Well, you can follow the other method to connect your Steam Deck to your TV or monitor.

Method 2: Using an HDMI Cable (Recommended)

This is the second method that you can follow to share the screen of your Steam Deck with your TV or monitor. For this method to work, you will need an HDMI cable and a Dock or Type-C HDMI adapter/hub for the Steam Deck. Choose the adapter or hub that also has power delivery port and port to connect Keyboard and Mouse for better experience.

  2. Put your steam deck on dock or connect the Type C HDMI adapter to your Steam Deck.
  3. Now plug in an HDMI cable into the Dock or Adapter and your TV.
  4. Choose the right video input on your TV or Monitor. The Steam Deck display will be mirrored to the big screen.
  5. To adjust the resolution for perfect fit, go to System Settings, followed by Display and Monitor.
  6. In Display Configuration, select your Monitor or TV and then set it Primary and select correct resolution. Disable the built-in display.

While this works best, you will not be able to move around with your Steam Deck, as it’s limited by the HDMI cables between the TV and the Steam Deck itself. But you can connect Keyboard and Mouse with both wired and wireless connection.
