Notepad Gets First AI Feature on Windows 11 – Rewrite
This is the first AI feature to be introduced to the Notepad app for Windows 11. So with this new Rewrite feature, users will be able to easily Once you have your text or paragraph typed out you can use AI to rewrite the whole paragraph. Additionally, you can also choose to make the text longer or shorter based on your preference.
With the new Rewrite feature, you can choose to change the tone of your text. You can easily choose from Formal, Casual, Inspirational or Humor. This is good if you aren’t sure about how to make a particular wall of text sound for different people based on situations. Last of all, the Rewrite feature can also change the format style of your text. You can format your texts into a paragraph, list, business, academic, marketing, or even poetry.

How to Enable Rewrite Tool For Notepad
Now, by default, the feature is available for users who are enrolled in the Windows 11 Insider Build. But, if you are on the Insider Build and you don’t have the feature, you can forcefully enable it. Here is what you need to do.
Step 1: First off, launch the Microsoft Store app. You will have to install the latest available update for the Notepad app.
Step 2: Now, get yourself the ViveTool. You can easily get this tool via this GitHub page.
Step 3: Once you have extracted the folder, take note of where you have saved it.
Step 4: Open the Start menu and type in CMD to launch the Command Prompt. Make sure to run the app as an Administrator.
Step 6: Now, copy the file location path of where you extracted the folder.
Step 7: Inside Command Prompt, type in cd, followed the file path of the ViveTool.
Step 8: With the file path changed, simply paste vivetool /enable /id:47961746 and hit the enter key. The command will now be run.
Step 9: Launch the Notepad app and you should see a new icon in the top right corner of the Notepad app.
Things To Note
- As a free user, you will get 50 credits to use. The credits are used each time you use any option from the Rewrite tool.
- If you have a Microsoft 365 account, you will get up to 60 credits.
- However, Copilot Pro users get unlimited access and use of such AI tools.
