Huawei has been going strong with their custom-designed HarmonyOS based on Android. HarmonyOS saw the day of light back in 2020 when sanctions were imposed on Huawei. Since then HarmonyOS has been released on various IoT and mobile devices. Looking into 2022, Huawei is now planning to release the third version of HarmonyOS simply known as HarmonyOS 3.0. HarmonyOS 3.0 was announced in October of 2021 and was to be released in the same year. While things got delayed, for better or for worse, we are now finally getting to see HarmonyOS 3.0 being released. Whether it’s finally going to make its global debut this year, only time will tell. HarmonyOS 3.0 Release Date
Today on 27 July, Huawei announced the HarmonyOS 3.0 at the Huawei Developer Conference. At this developer conference, Huawei shows the first look at HarmonyOS 3.0, and its features as well as new device launches that will be incorporating the HarmonyOS 3.0 ecosystem. The event took place in China and the live stream was broadcasted on the Huawei YouTube channel.
The developer preview for HamronyOS 3.0 began in October of 2021, so, we can expect stable versions of the OS rollout soon. However, there is no official statement for the global rollout. Huawei also announced four new devices at the same event.

Harmony OS 3.0 Features
With regards to the new features, nothing has been revealed. Yes, the developer preview has been going on for a couple of months. Huawei has always been strict when it comes to developer beta programs and as such, there have been no leaks that have surfaced to the general public. At least what we can expect is that the UI will still incorporate EMUI design stylings without any Google Services.
We will update you as to when we get more information about the features and the UI for Harmony OS 3.0 as when it gets released.
HarmonyOS 3.0 Supported Devices
With the initial HarmonyOS release, we got to see Huawei rolling the update out to almost every device released under the Huawei and Honor branded devices released in 2017 and later. So, with HarmonyOS 3.0, we are yet to see if Huawei will be updating its 6-year-old devices, or if it would be limiting the number of devices. So far, we only have a list of devices that we think are expected to get the update to HarmonyOS 3.0.

As stated above, this is just a list of devices that are expected to get the update to Harmony OS 3, The official list of devices that will be updated to the new OS is yet to be released. In all fairness, there is a lot that is to be known about HarmonyOS 3 and we can’t wait to share all of that info with you when it is made available.

[Update: July 27] HarmonyOS 3 Public Beta Goes Live
With the conference going on and the announcement of Harmony OS 3, Huawei has now opened up the public beta to Harmony OS 3. As of now, 14 devices are eligible for the public beta update.

As you would expect with such open beta programs, the slots are limited and as of now only Chinese variants of the above devices will be able to enroll in the beta program for HarmonyOS 3. The recruitment for the program is open from July 27th, 2022 until the 10th of August 2022.
