First Betas of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 now available to Developers

It’s the WWDC event day and Apple announced new versions of a bunch of OS. Without a doubt, iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 are among the top announcements. And the first beta of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 is also out for developers. I’m sure most iPhone users will be waiting to get their hands on the first beta that is finally available. Let’s find out everything about the iOS 16 Dev Beta 1 and iPadOS 16 Dev Beta 1.

Apple has just finished with its Apple Keynote which was the first session of the event. And in this session, Apple announced new OS versions like iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS 13, and more. Apple also announced some new products at the event. But as it’s a developer conference the major part was about software.

Apple released iOS 16 Dev Beta and iPadOS 16 Dev Beta along with watchOS 9 Beta 1, macOS 13.0 Beta 1, tvOS 16 Beta 1, and more. iOS 16 Beta 1 and iPadOS 16 Beta 1 are the very first beta builds and both updates come with the build number 20A5283p. Since it is a major update and users will be switching from iOS 15, the OTA update will weigh high, more than a couple of GB.

iOS 16 Beta 1

Last month we shared the upcoming features of iOS 16 in detail and we also mentioned that it could be a significant upgrade (by source Mark Gurman). Looks like Mark Gurman was right once again, iOS 16 was announced with a slew of new features and improvements. Well, not every feature will be available in the first dev beta, but it does bring some features.

Since the iOS 16 Dev Beta update just went live, we are still checking for the changes and new features. We will update all the changes here once we have a list of changes. So be sure to check it again if it’s not available at the time of your reading.

New features:

  • New lock screen with personalization features
  • Widgets in Lock Screen (weather, battery levels, Activity ring, and more), Tap and Hold to customize the Lock Screen
  • Apply Focus mode direct from the lock screen
  • Notifications moved to the bottom and now it shows in layers so that lock it doesn’t take up much space on lock screen
  • Edit and undo Messages
  • New Lock Screen Gallery with a bunch of collections
  • Live activities on lock screen (e.g. Track food orders, scores, and other real time trackings)

Updating Feature here…………………

Like every other year, the iOS 16 Beta and iPadOS 16 Beta is first available to developers. The public beta will not be available this month. We can expect a public beta in July. So if you don’t have a developer account, you will have to wait for the public beta to arrive or you need to subscribe for the developer account.

Now if you have a developer account (paid account), then you need to install the new iOS 16 beta profile which you can download from the iOS 16 beta page. And after installing the beta profile, head over to Settings > General > Software Update. Here you will get the iOS 16 Beta 1 as an OTA update. Hit the download and install button to enjoy iOS 16 Beta 1/iPadOS 16 Beta 1.

Since it is the first build there can be some bugs. So upgrade while keeping this in mind. Also, take a full backup before installing the update. Let us know how was your experience with iOS 16 Beta 1? Let us know in the comment section.
