Nokia, owned by HMD, has released the stable Android 14 for Nokia XR21. It is a budget phone released exactly a year ago, and Android 14 is the second major update for the phone. The device is eligible for three major OS update, this means it will get one more OS update.
Nokia seems to be lagging behind by two or three years. It has been almost a year since the release of Android 14, but Nokia only managed to roll out the Android 14 update to three of its devices, Nokia G42 5G, Nokia G60, and Nokia X30.
Nokia last released Android 14 for the Nokia X30 and G60 in March. Nearly three months later, the company now brings Android 14 to Nokia XR21. This is the beginning of the rollout and limited users have received the update so far.
It looks like the Android 14 for Nokia XR21 began rolling out last week as per discussion in the HMD discord group. The same was confirmed in a Telegram group. The Android 14 for the Nokia XR21 comes with build version V3.150 and it weighs around 2.6GB. So make sure to use WiFi to download the update.
In terms of changes and new features, we don’t have the update changelog yet. But most of the features are going to be the same as the Nokia X30 which you can check here.
If you are a Nokia XR21 user, you can expect the OTA update on your phone if it hasn’t landed already. Just like other updates, it is rolling out in batches. This means the update can take a few weeks to fully roll out. It is a major update, so make sure to take a backup before installing it.
