Sony officially announces Android 13 for Xperia 1 IV and Xperia 5 IV

Android 13 is the latest version of the Android phone’s OS. The update is now available for most flagship phones. Google released Android 13 about two months ago and since then some devices have already received the update. And more devices will join the list in the coming months.

After a short wait, Sony has finally announced the Android 13 update for two of its latest phones; Xperia 1 IV and Xperia 5 IV. Sony is not well versed when it comes to fast updates, but as we know Sony also doesn’t take much time to release updates for eligible devices. Is Sony going to improve the update speed, we have to wait and see.

One of the big advantages that Sony has is the small number of devices to provide support for. If you don’t know whether your Xperia phone is eligible for Android 13 or not, you can check out this list. It is based on Sony’s official update policy.

The Xperia 1 IV and Xperia 5 IV are the first two phones to receive the update soon if they haven’t already. Sony officially announced Android 13 for both the Xperia 1 IV and Xperia 5 IV via its Facebook channel.

Unfortunately, other details are unknown yet. Also, till now no one has shared whether they have received the update. So we are guessing that it has been announced now but the rollout will start later in a few days. The Android 13 update brings the support for Material You design to third party app icons, per app language option, improved clipboard, security and privacy improvements, and a lot more. Also, you can expect an updated Android Security Patch if not the latest.

If you are Xperia 1 IV or Xperia 5 IV user, then you will receive the OTA update notification on your phone. In case for some reason the OTA notification isn’t working on your phone, you can manually check for updates from Settings in some time intervals.
