As time goes by, Smart TVs are getting better and better. Users with Android Smart TVs in India are finally getting a revamped Android TV home screen. That’s right, the new home screen – Google TV Home UI was earlier rolling out to users in the US back in February of this year is now making its way across Android-Powered Smart TVs in India. So, what does the new Android TV Home update bring in? Well, for starters, it has gotten rid of the menus on the left side that had the apps, and play next buttons. Instead, we now get to see a simple and clean menu with the Home, Discover, and Apps tabs in the top left corner of the screen.
The apps, movies, and shows are now spread across the screen instead of staying on the right-hand side of the screen. This makes the home screen more pleasing to look at. You will also notice that a few featured suggestions from Amazon Prime, Disney+ Hotstar, Apple TV as well as MX Player will be displayed on the screen. You can however choose to turn these off, but they do not seem to work on the Google TV app for mobile as of now.
About ads on Google TV, so far there are no reports, but well, we all know what happens, and the ads are expected to slowly creep up to these TVs as well. Just like how many users in the US reported auto-playing ads on their Android TVs that have the new Google TV Home UI.
The update is slowly but gradually rolling out to the majority of Android TV users in India. Many users in India have reported receiving the home screen on their TVs, we too got the update on Motorola ZX Pro TV running on Android 10 TV OS. Whether your Android TV runs on Android 10 TV OS or even Android Pie for that matter, you will be getting the new Google TV UI update soon.
Many Android TVs from Motorola, OnePlus, Mi, TCL, and even the MI Boxes are getting the new Google TV UI update. You can also sideload the new home screen, by downloading the Android TV Home APK file from APKMirror. The file weighs in at 7.33 MB.
