Instagram has brought in a brand-new feature that is targeted directly at those who use Spotify as a streaming service for their music and podcast needs. Yes, you can now share your Now Playing song live as an Instagram Note to your followers.
This new feature makes it a great way for you and your Instagram friends and followers to discover new music or feel nostalgic about the old great hits. This is a good feature if you do not mind sharing with your followers what you are currently listening to. If all you care about is sharing the joy of music, you’ve come to the right place.
Share Spotify’s Now Playing to Instagram Notes
To get this brand-new feature for your Instagram Notes, I would recommend that you update the Instagram app on your iPhone or Android smartphone to the latest available version. On my Galaxy S24 Ultra, I have installed the beta version of Instagram. The version that I have installed on my phone is version 385.0.0.28.74.
Also, make sure that the Spotify app on your iPhone or Android smartphone is also updated to the latest version.
Once you have installed the latest version of the Instagram app, either the beta or the stable version, you need to first link Instagram with Spotify.
If you try to create a note, a pop-up should appear right away telling you about the new feature, and a button to link your Instagram account to Spotify will also be shown. But if you don’t get the pop-up, follow these steps to link both the apps.
- Tap on your profile picture at the bottom right of the app.
- Now, tap on the three horizontal lines in the top right corner.
- Scroll and tap on App Website permissions.
- Tap on Spotify, followed by Link.
- In a few moments, Instagram and Spotify will be linked to each other.
Now that you have the accounts linked, here is how you can add the Now Playing song to your Instagram Notes.
- Open the Spotify app and play a song of your choice. You can also choose to play the song from any playlist of your choice.
- Now, launch the Instagram app on your phone and tap on the Messages icon.
- Add a note to your profile picture, and then tap on the music icon.
- At the top, you should see a Share from Spotify option.
- Tap on it, followed by tapping the Share button.
- The song that you are playing on Spotify will now be displayed on your Instagram Notes.
The note will be live with your now-playing song for up to 24 hours. But if you have stopped playing songs on Spotify, the note will be cleared away within 30 minutes of no Spotify playback. If you add a new note to Instagram Notes, the Spotify Now Playing note will be deleted.
