How to set up Apple CarPlay on Toyota Vehicles

One of the top features of Apple CarPlay is that it gives you hands-free control over everything we talked above. Putting it simply, its best to have Apple CarPlay when you hit the road.

Set up Apple CarPlay on Toyota Camry, Corolla, Tundra, Supra, RAV4, Tacoma & more

Firstly, it’s important to know that there are two ways to set up and use Apple CarPlay on Toyota vehicles. Do note that some of the older models may not have a wireless Apple CarPlay feature. Therefore, you might have to take the wired route. 

However, if you have the newer models from 2023 or later, you don’t have to worry a little, those come with both wired and wireless Apple CarPlay support. Therefore, it’s up to you whether you want to proceed with the wired or wireless setup. But first, let’s discuss how to set up Apple CarPlay on Toyota with a USB cable.

How to set up Apple Carplay on Toyota vehicles with USB (Wired method)?

Before you start to set up Apple CarPlay, make sure your Toyota vehicle is in Park (P) mode. Next, you must ensure that CarPlay and Siri are enabled on your iPhone. You can enable Siri by going to iPhone’s settings > Siri. Whereas, the CarPlay option is available under Settings > General > CarPlay. Once you’re done, start to set up Apple CarPlay on a Toyota Camry or whichever model you have.

  1. First, connect your iPhone to your Toyota using an Apple-certified USB cable.
  2. Next, tap “Yes” on your Toyota’s infotainment system when asked to use CarPlay.
  3. Now, similarly tap “Yes” on your iPhone when asked to use Apple CarPlay.

Well, that’s about it. Now, you should be able to seamlessly use Apple CarPlay on Toyota Corolla, RMV4, or any other models that you ride.

How to set up Apple Carplay on Toyota vehicles wirelessly?

The first thing you need to do is enable Bluetooth on your iPhone before setting up Apple CarPlay wirelessly on Toyota Tacoma, Supra, or more. Also enable Siri and CarPlay as described in the wired method. Once you are done, make sure to follow the instructions given below:

  1. On your Toyota’s infotainment system, look for the Settings option (with the cog icon).
  2. Then, find and tap Bluetooth & devices.
  3. Next, select Add another device.
  4. Now, your Toyota’s infotainment system will search for nearby Bluetooth devices.
  5. Once your iPhone is visible on the scanning screen, tap on it and respond to the on-screen prompts.
  6. Then, repeat Step 2 and Step 3 from the steps mentioned for the wired method and you’re done.
