Apple seeds first iOS 18.6 Developer Beta to iPhones

Summarize This Article:

While iOS 26 has now overshadowed iOS 18, the development of iOS 18 will continue for at least a few weeks. Apple today released iOS 18.6 Beta 1, along with some other updates.

Last week, Apple unveiled iOS 26 to the world, and it quickly became available in developer beta. It is a big upgrade with a UI overhaul and various changes. However, since the testing for the upcoming iOS release has already started, the remaining iOS 18 builds, including iOS 18.6, may not be blessed with big new features.

iOS 18.6 is focused on bug fixes and improvements. However, there are still enough changes for you to upgrade to its public release.

Along with iOS 18.6 Beta 1, Apple also released iPadOS 18.6 Beta 1, watchOS 11.6 Beta 1, tvOS 18.6 Beta 1, macOS Sequoia 15.6 Beta 1, and visionOS Beta 1.

iOS 18.6 Beta 1

The iOS 18.6 Beta 1 and iPadOS 18.6 Beta 1 share the same build number 22G5054d. Since this is the first beta, it weighs more, in multiple GBs.

If you’ve already upgraded your iPhone to iOS 26 beta, you won’t receive the iOS 18.6 build since you’re already on a higher version. However, if you’re currently on an iOS 18 build and choose developer beta in the software update settings page, you’ll be able to download it immediately.

As usual, remember to back up your data before switching to a beta build. Let us know your experience with the latest beta.
