What is the largest functional smartphone you have ever seen? What if I tell you there is now an iPhone that is about 6.74 foot tall? Yes, an iPhone this big just has recently entered the Guinness World Records.
We occasionally see some crazy projects from around the world, and one such crazy and fun project has made it into the Guinness World Record. The largest iPhone project, led by popular tech YouTuber Arun Maini (aka MrWhoseTheBoss) and YouTuber Perkins (DIY Perks), was featured in the Guinness World Record as the Largest smartphone replica.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a giant smartphone replica, however, this one is actually functional and tall at 6.74 ft weighing around 440 pounds. The biggest phone showcased by Arun and Perkins, was working perfectly including the buttons, touch, and more.
The other large iPhone replicas we have seen in the past were not fully functional, but Arun and his team managed to build this one with almost everything working, and also registered Guinness world record.
This is the iPhone 15 Pro Max replica that you must see in action at any cost. Luckily, both Arun and Perkins have shared the adventure of making the largest smartphone replica in YouTube.
In the video, the Youtubers breaks down the hardware they used along with the cost for making the tallest replica. It includes a $3,500 Canon EOS R5 camera and a $1,700 Sony RX10 Mark 4 Zoom Camera, for a camera setup far better than the current iPhone lineup.
The big iPhone has $400 worth of 128GB of RAM, a $700 AMD 6950XT graphic card, a $700 24 Core Intel i9 processor, a $400 4TB SSD, and $4000 worth of subwoofers for speakers.
The biggest part of the largest phone is its display which is an LG 8K 88-inch OLED TV that costs $25,000. They used two of them because the first TV broke in the process of adding the touch film.
Talking about power, Youtubers have used 2 Anker Solix Batteries which cost $6000. One of these is for backup in case the first battery runs out. It also has a big Type C port and Type C cable. The flashlight used in the camera setup is a 400W flashlight which costs $300.
Arun also tested the iPhone for NFC payments, camera samples, internet scrolling and more. Yes, it also has the dynamic island feature, which I believe is achieved through software.
The largest iPhone runs on Android and Windows OS which you can choose at bootup. However, due to high customization, the interface looks like iOS. Since iOS is a closed source, they can’t use it on their big iPhone.
So for the project items, they spent around $70,630.
So this was the main story of making the largest iPhone replica. For the full story, you must watch the video posted by Arun and Perkins.
