Xiaomi has started pushing the latest Android 11 update for Mi A3. The device was launched back in 2019 with Android Pie 9.0 OS out-of-the-box. It received the Android 10 update as its first major update in March. Now the news comes out that Xiaomi Mi A3 starts receiving its second major OS update as Android 11 Update. However, the newer update has a critical bug that bricks the device after updating to the OTA. Here’s everything you need to know about Xiaomi Mi A3 Android 11 Update.

The latest airborne update on the Xiaomi Mi A3 measures around 1.4GB of download size. A number of users are reportedly receiving the Android 11 update. And there are some users complaining on social media about the hard bricking issue.

If you’ve received the Android 11 update (via OTA) on your Mi A3 smartphone, then I suggest you not to update your smartphone. Hopefully, Xiaomi will soon fix this issue and release a new OTA in the coming days.

As always, it’s a staged update which might take some time to reach every device. In case you haven’t received the OTA then you can check it manually from the system settings. Although, as I said earlier, the reports suggest that this OTA will brick the smartphone.

PSA: don’t update your smartphone this time, I recommend you to wait for another patch.

The company has also advised users on Telegram Group, not to updated to the Android 11 update.

“Hi mi fans!

Thank you for understanding.”

Update: 1st January

The latest report by Gadgets 360, suggests that Xiaomi has acknowledged the issue of hard bricking. And the company has terminated the rollout of Android 11 update, for now. Xiaomi has issued the following statement.

“It has come to our notice that few users of Mi A3 are facing issues with the recent OTA update of Android 11,โ€ the company said. โ€œWhile the rollout has been stopped already at our end, our teams are working towards resolving the issue at the earliest. Customer experience is our topmost priority and we regret the inconvenience caused. We will keep all users updated on the next steps.”

Update 2: 5th January (Re-rollout)

Just today Xiaomi announced to provide free device repairs to users affected in the last update. And after a few hours, the company also re-rolls the update. This time the update is stable and not bricking any devices as per recent reviews.

The update is rolling out as OTA and many users have already installed the update. And if you got the update but afraid because of the last update result. You can update it as it is functioning normally and not bricking any devices in the latest update. But you can also wait for more update on this, that will also be a fair choice. We will add here if we have any further updates.
