The Memory Expansion feature on Xiaomi is called ‘Memory Extension’. It is a useful feature for any phone. Xiaomi has introduced this feature with one of the MIUI 12.5 updates. The Memory Extension feature is already available on many Xiaomi devices, and more devices will be joining the list soon.
Now that you are here, I believe you already know about the concept of Memory Extension. If not then here is a quick overview of the feature. Memory Extension on Xiaomi allows users to add 1GB or 2GB or 3GB of RAM to the RAM already available on their phones by occupying the storage. The Memory Extension is a feature that is available with MIUI 12.5 or a newer version, so you can rule out phones that are still running on MIUI 12 or older. The list mentioned above may be missing some devices, but once we get confirmation, we are going to update the list.
Already updated your phone to MIUI 12.5; Here’s how to check if the Memory Extension feature is available on your Xiaomi phone or not:
Open Settings and go to Additional Settings > Memory Extension. And that’s it, there is your feature. If it is available then you can easily add a given amount of RAM for better performance. And if not then you can wait for upcoming updates.
