Xiaomi finally releases MIUI 12 Update for Redmi Note 8 [Global Variants]

In the month of August, Xiaomi pushed MIUI 12 global stable update for Redmi Note 8 Pro. Now the vanilla Redmi Note 8 starts receiving MIUI 12 update. The newer software is seeding with the September 2020 monthly security patch alongside the MIUI 12 basic features. As per the screenshot shared by a twitter user (@TechnoAnkit1), the newer build to the Redmi Note 8 with V12.0.1.0.QCOMIXM. The newer build weighs a whopping 2.1GB of download size, you can also sideload it manually, thanks to the recovery method. Although, as of now, Xiaomi has not confirmed the rollout of MIUI 12 for Redmi Note 8. This patch of MIUI 12 is based on Android 10.

Talking about the changes, then the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 MIUI 12 Update comes with new animations, intuitive UI, customizations, and obviously the MIUI 12 Wallpapers. Xiaomi rolling out the update with September security patch, while other companies are releasing the update with October 2020 monthly security patch.

As always, the OTA might take some time to reach every unit. So, if you’re in a haste then you can update your device manually with the recovery ROM. Here’s the download link.

Before upgrading your smartphone, I recommend you to take a backup, before diving in to the process and charge your device to at least 30%.

To sideload the recovery ROM package (Update file), you need to head over to the system settings, then updates, then select the update package manually. Allow the prompts to install the build.

Once the installation process is completed, reboot your Redmi Note 8, once done, you can start using your device running on MIUI 12 based Android 10. That’s it.
