Microsoft releases Windows 11 Insider Build 25197 to the Dev Channel

It’s the middle of a week which means it’s time for a new Windows 11 build. Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25197 for the Dev Channel. The build is rolling out to Insiders on the Dev Channel. Today or for the rest of the week, we may see an insider build for the beta channel as well. Here is all about the new Windows 11 Insider preview build.

Microsoft releases Insider preview builds almost every week for the different available channels. The last build to the dev channel was released exactly a week ago with some new features. And the same can be said about the new Insider build.

The latest Windows 11 build 25197 comes with a bunch of new features and changes. With the latest Windows build Microsoft re-introduces the tablet-optimized taskbar. It works well with 2 in 1 laptops. This feature is only for devices that can be used as tablet and not for Desktops or Laptops.

System Tray has also received changes and it’s not only for 2 in 1 devices but all PCs. Users will now see the rounded focus and hover treatment on all icons in the lower right. Apart from these two changes, there are other changes and improvements.

Remember these changes are beginning to roll out so it will not be available to all insiders just yet. It will roll out to users in the coming days.

Changes and Improvements

[Settings]

We are beginning to roll out animated icons and illustrations in the Settings app. With the animated icons in the navigation bar, we continue growing our motion design principles to transform these familiar interactions from something purely functional to something that is also delightful.

[Input]

We are making the small tweak that began rolling out with Build 25179 to improve the key repeat rate for the traditional touch keyboard layout, as well as the default touch keyboard layout, so it feels more responsive available to all Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. Now it has the rate of 20 keys per second (for example, when holding down the delete key).

The latest Windows build also fixes many bugs, however, there are still some known issues that you can check by heading here.

If you are a Windows Insider user to the dev channel, you’ll receive the new Windows 11 preview build 25197. You can head over to Settings > Windows Update > click on Check for Updates. And from there you can simply install the update on your PC.
