Windows 11 build 22621.675 brings Tabs to File Explorer (KB5019509)

A new Windows 11 update is rolling out based on version 22H2. This is an out-of-band release that includes some essential fixes and new features that are part of the Windows 11 22H2 Update. The cumulative update to Windows 11 version 22H2 brings the much-awaited feature which is Tabs in file explorer. So if you have been opening two file explorer windows just to reach a location faster, then this tabs feature is going to be a great help. It is similar to the tabs in the browser. This way you can switch to any location just by tapping on tabs.

  • New! It adds a taskbar overflow menu. The taskbar will offer an entry point to a menu that shows you all your overflowed apps in one space.

The update is rolling out to everyone who has a PC or laptop that supports Windows 11. However, it can take time to reach all eligible devices. It is a feature drop update and is available to users over the air. You don’t need to opt for the Windows Insider program to get this update.

To check for the update manually, go to Settings > Windows Update. The new update tagged as KB5019509 will show up. Click on Download and Install button to get the update on your PC.
