When it comes to tactical shooter games, the current popular game that comes to many people’s minds is Valorant. Valorant was released for Windows platform in 2020 and has amassed over 8 million players worldwide since then. It has had a large PC market share since its launch, but unfortunately, it is not yet available on consoles and mobile platforms. So, is the game ever coming to the console platforms? Let’s find out.
Will Valorant come to Console?
The news about Valorant getting a console port started spreading like wildfire in 2020. However, 3 to 4 years down the line, there have been no console or mobile ports of the game. So, is the development of the game for these platforms dead?
There is no official confirmation if the company is working on bringing the game to consoles or not.
While Riot, the company behind Valorant, tries to bring the game to other platforms, there are some issues that it could run into. Firstly, Valorant can be played using the mouse and keyboard, so having aim assist for console players will make it unfair for those playing on PC.
Additionally, Riot would also have to work out how the cross-play functionality would work between PCs, consoles, and mobile platforms. The other reason why Valorant might not make it to consoles is probably because of the duration of the gameplay. A standard Valorant game can last anywhere between 30 and 50 minutes, provided you manage to pass through all rounds, that is. Because such short-time gameplay isn’t favored by console players, it could simply mean that Riot would simply close on the idea of bringing the game to consoles.
