Meta aims to improve video calling with the latest announcement of new features for WhatsApp. The company introduces some new features related to calling on WhatsApp. Users can now use audio while sharing screens, among other features.
WhatsApp is a widely used messaging service, especially for cross-platform messaging between iPhone and Android. While WhatsApp has all the important features, it is still missing some additional features that Meta is trying to add with various updates.
The new features that Meta announced for WhatsApp will help users especially those who use WhatsApp frequently for meetings.
The first one is the inclusion of audio support while sharing your screen. This means when you need to explain something while showing your screen, it will make things easier.
WhatsApp now allows up to 32 participants in one group video call across all devices, including Windows and Mac. This means more team members can join the video call.
The third new feature is speaker spotlight. With this feature, the person speaking will appear first on the screen along with a highlighted grid.
WhatsApp also mentioned that they have recently launched an MLow codec to improve calling by reducing noise and echo. With this, the audio is crisp even with a poor network connection and on older devices. Video calls now appear in higher resolution with faster connections.
