What’s new in Android 13 for Xperia 1 IV and Xperia 5 IV

Sony recently announced the Android 13 update for its latest Xperia 1 IV and Xperia 5 IV. And soon after the announcement, the update started rolling out to Xperia 1 IV and Xperia 5 IV users in different regions. Android 13 is the latest Android version released in August. And soon it will be available for many eligible devices. For Xperia phones, the update brings a bunch of changes in UI plus new features. The new Android 13 comes with a number of new features, but it is up to brands whether they want to include all features on the update for their devices or only selected features will make the cut. And so whatever Google announces as new features in a major update, we shouldn’t assume that all these features are coming to every phone.

Color Theme Customization

Google introduced the Material You dynamic theme with Android 12. And luckily it made to Xperia phones as well. But now Google has added further Customizations and Sony has included this as well in the Android 13 update for Xperia phones.

The update brings more color palettes, Material You on third party app icons, quick settings, and more. To access the personalization page, long press the empty space on home screen, and from there you can personalize Wallpaper & Style.

More Quick Settings

The Android 13 on Sony Xperia also comes with new options in Quick Settings. The new info section just under the quick settings shows how many and which apps are running in the background. You check from here which apps are running and you can stop any app that you want to with just a click.

Also, there is a new tile in Quick Settings which is Scan QR Code. Users can use this time to quickly scan QR codes to take action immediately.

Per App Language

If you ever want to use different apps in different languages, you should know that Android 13 now has this feature. Yes, Android 13 users can easily set any language for any app. So when you open the app, it will open with the language you have set. This is a useful feature who know multiple languages. So to open an App in a different language users don’t need to change the language of the entire system.

Users can check the language of any app from the App Info page in Settings.

Bluetooth LE Audio

Android 13 update also comes with another new feature called Bluetooth LE Audio. It allows users to easily share audio with their friends from their phones. The new feature broadcast audio wirelessly from an Xperia phone to multiple compatible headphones at the same time. It also applies if some other person is sharing and you are the receiver. Currently, it is available in select regions, but it will be soon available with an OTA update.

Livestream from Camera view

As we all know Sony Xperia can be used as a viewfinder for many high end professional cameras using an external monitor app. It allows viewing the scenes on the phone for better camera angles and shots. And now with Android 13, Xperia users can use the same monitor app for Livestream. Yes, you can Livestream a professional camera view from the Xperia phone.
