What is Smart Lock & How it Works

We all unlock our phone by pattern, pin or using fingerprint etc. As you all know that there is a feature in most of the phones, called smart lock. In this post, I will tell you “What is Smart Lock & How it Works“.

What is Smart Lock?

It keeps your device unlocked when it’s safe with you. Smart Lock can do this by recognizing signals line when your device is in your pocket or near your home.

In Which Devices Smart Lock Works?

Devices with stock ROM have this “Smart Lock” feature but devices, which comes with custom User Interface (UI) like (MIUI(Xiaomi), EUI(LETV), Color OS(OPPO), FunTouch UI(VIVO), Amigo(Gionee)) etc. Companies like OPPO, VIVO, Xiaomi, LETV (LEECO), Gionee etc which have their own ROM and UI does not sport this feature.

How does it work?

  • To activate this feature. Firstly Go To Settings then click on Security.
  • Under Security, Scroll down and find “Smart Lock” click on smart lock option and verify your password, pin or fingerprint etc.
  • Now Activate Smart Lock feature.
  • Under Smart Lock, there are 4-5 more options like On-body detection, Trusted places, Trusted devices, Trusted face, Trusted voice etc.
