Apple started testing iPadOS 16 with iOS 16 a long time back. But iPadOS 16 was never released to the public due to incomplete features.

Instead of releasing the iPadOS 16, Apple started testing the iPadOS 16.1 beta.

And finally after months of testing the iPadOS 16.1 is available to the Public with eligible devices.

This year Apple has made some changes to eligible devices. Here are all the eligible iPads.

- iPad Pro (All models) - iPad Air (3rd generation and later) - iPad (5th generation and later) - iPad mini (5th generation and later)
Newer iPads (iPad 10th generation and latest iPad Pro) will also get the iPadOS 16.1 update.
iPadOS 16.1 comes with most of the features Apple mentioned during the announcement of iPadOS 16.
And the rest of the features will be added in the upcoming updates. Since the update was in beta for a very long time, it may be bug free.
Still you should first get reviews from other users before updating your iPad to the latest version.
