You can lock any app you want on any iOS version. Let's dive in to the steps to lock apps on iPhone with Face ID or passcode.

At first, open the Settings app, then tap Accessibility > Guided Access. Now enable Guided Access feature.

Tap on Passcode Settings, enable Face ID first, then tap Set Guided Access Passcode and enter the passcode you want to use for locking apps.

Now create a new Automation Shortcut for App, then choose the apps you want to lock, I'm picking Calculator and Calendar for this story.

Tap Add Action, then search for Start Guided Access. Once done, tap next and turn toggle off for Ask Before Running.

It requires disabling touches. Open the locked app, then press power button three times and disable touch access.
That's it, now whenever you open this app, you will not able to access it until you unlock it through Face ID or passcode.

You can press the power button twice to unlock the app with Face ID, and thrice for passcode. That's it.
