watchOS 8.7 release candidate goes live for developers!

Apple releases the watchOS 8.7 release candidate build. It goes official one day after the announcement of watchOS 9 public beta. The firm has been testing the watchOS 8.7 for the past two months and now we’re close to the public release of watchOS 8.7. Yes, the release candidate update is out for developers, which means we can see the public update later this week or next week. Read along to know more about the watchOS 8.7 release candidate update.

Apple plants the release candidate build to the Watch with a 19U66 build number. Obviously, if you’re already running on the watchOS 8.7 beta 5, then you’ll receive the release candidate over-the-air. And as always the update is available for all Apple Watch models compatible with watchOS 8.

For those, who are not familiar with the release candidate. It is the new naming for Apple’s Golden Master builds. It is a final build rolling first to the developers for final testing. It simply means that we’re close to the public build, usually, it will be available within a week or so.

Apple didn’t mention anything in the release notes yet, but the previously released version brings ECG app support for Apple Watch Series 4 or later and Irregular heart rhythm notifications in Mexico. And we can expect that Apple might push the ECG and Irregular heart rhythm notification support to more regions with this upgrade. Apart from that, you can expect system-wide improvements with the new update. Since we’re not aware of watchOS 8.7 goodies yet, you can check the features released with watchOS 8.6.
