watchOS 7.4 Beta 3 Update brings Unlock iPhone with Mask feature support

Last month, Apple initially started testing watchOS 7.4 beta on the Apple Watch. The watchOS 7.4 is likely to come with some new features including unlocking the iPhone while wearing a mask. The feature is not available in the early beta patches, but today, Apple seeds the watchOS 7.4 beta 3 with iPhone mask unlock feature support along with some other improvements. Here’s everything you need to know about watchOS 7.4 Beta 3 Update.

Apple rolls out the watchOS 7.4 Beta 3 with 18T5169f build number and weighs approx. 212MB of download size. The update is available for Apple Watch Series 3 or newer. If you’re a developer then you can easily update your Apple Watch to the latest beta build.

If your iPhone is running on iOS 14.5, then you can use your Apple Watch to unlock your iPhone without removing Mask. This is a pretty handy feature in the times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Talking about the other features, then the second beta patch of watchOS 7.4 bring AirPlay 2 support for Apple Fitness+, this means that, you can cast the workouts to AirPlay 2 enabled TV.

Other than that, the watchOS 7.4 beta 3 updates may also come with some other improvements and bug fixes. We can expect that Apple will release the watchOS 7.4 public updates very soon along with iOS 14.5. Both the watchOS 7.4 and iOS 14.5 are coming with a flurry of new features.

Before sideloading the watchOS 7.4 beta 3 to your Apple Watch, make sure to sideload the iOS 14.5 or iPadOS 14.5 Beta 3 on your iPhone or iPad.

  1. At first, you need to login to Apple Developer Program website.
  2. Then, head over to the downloads.
  3. Tap on watchOS 7.4 beta 3 available under featured downloads. Then tap on the download button.
  4. Now install watchOS 7.4 beta 3 profile on your iPhone, then authorize the profile by going to Settings > General > Profiles.
  5. Now restart your iPhone.

Here are some prerequisites, that you can check before installing it on your Apple Watch.

Prerequisites:

  • Make sure that your Apple Watch is charged to at least 50% and connected to the charger.
  • Make sure that your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi.
  • Make sure that your iPhone is running on iOS 14.5.

After downloading the watchOS 7.4 beta 3 profile, you can head over to the Settings app on the Watch and then tap on Software Update. You can also use your iPhone to update the Apple Watch to the new update, you can open Apple Watch Companion app on iPhone and sideload the latest build on your watch.
