watchOS 11 beta 4 and watchOS 10.6 release candidate now available for developers

Apple today released two beta updates for Apple Watch users, so, whether your watch is on watchOS 11 beta or watchOS 10.6 beta, you will get access to some new features. Apple has seeded the fourth beta of watchOS 11 to developers, while the testing of watchOS 10.6 has reached its final phase, with the release candidate build now available.

When it comes to changes on the watchOS 10.6 RC, Apple didn’t specify anything in the release notes. However, it is expected to bring improvements to the camera app with faster connectivity and better controls. Apart from that, we can expect bug fixes and other enhancements. The update weighs 325MB in size and comes with a 21U577 build number.

Apple plants the watchOS 11 beta 4 to the eligible watch models with 22R5318h build number. The incremental beta weighs around 600MB in download size. At the time of writing, the update is available to developers; the second public beta should be released in a matter of time.

In terms of features and changes, watchOS 11 boasts a bunch of useful features including automatic sleep detection, revamped Photos Watch Face, an all-new Vitals app, Training Load, Live activities support for Smart Stack, a Translate app with 20 languages support, and many more.

Whether you want to upgrade your watch to release candidate or watchOS 11 beta 4, ensure that your iPhone is on the iOS 17.6 RC or iOS 18 beta 4. Follow these steps to update your watch.

  1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap General > Software Update.
  3. Select Beta Updates.
    • For watchOS 10.6 RC: enable watchOS 10 Developer Beta or Public Beta
    • For watchOS 11 beta 4: enable watchOS 11 Developer Beta
  4. Go back to download the new update.
  5. That’s it.

Before installing the update, make sure that your Apple Watch is charged at least 50% and connected to a WiFi network.
