How to Unlock Bootloader on Samsung Galaxy M30

How to Boot Galaxy M30 into Download Mode

To customize or write anything on the phone from PC, we need to boot Galaxy M30 to Download Mode. Download mode is also known as Fastboot mode on some phones. The phone needs to be in any of these modes to write anything from any tool or command window. You can boot Galaxy M30 to download mode with different methods and here we are going to tell two different methods.

Method 1: Enter Download Mode using Shortcut

  • Power off your phone completely.
  • Press & hold Volume Down + Power button together. Galaxy M30 download mode
  • Release the buttons when you see the Samsung Logo.
  • A warning screen will appear, now press Volume Up button once.
  • Now the Galaxy M30 will boot to Download Mode.

Method 2: Enter Download Mode using Recovery

  • Power off your Galaxy M30.

  • Release the buttons when the Samsung logo appears.
  • The phone will now boot to recovery mode, press volume buttons to navigate. Navigate to ‘Reboot to bootloader’.

You can use the Odin tool to flash files on your phone while in download mode. Download mode is also known as Odin mode in some blogs (only in case of Samsung phones). So if you see written Odin mode then it means Download mode.

How to Unlock Bootloader on Galaxy M30

Just like all other phones the Samsung Galaxy M30 also comes with locked bootloader. It means you can not modify the phone using tools & commands. Steps to Unlock Bootloader

  1. Open Settings on your Galaxy M30.
  2. Go to About Phone > Software Information.
  3. Tap 7 times on Build Number and it will display ‘You are now a developer’.
  4. Go back to Settings > Developer options.
  5. In Developer Options, enable OEM Unlocking and USB Debugging. oem unlocking android

  7. Press & hold Volume Down + Power button together.
  8. Release buttons when Samsung logo appears.
  9. It will now show a warning screen with three options including ‘device unlock mode’. You may not see if your device is new so check after a few days.
  10. Long press Volume Up button to unlock bootloader on Galaxy M30.
  11. It will now erase all the data and unlock the bootloader.

That’s it, now set up your phone and go to Developer option and you will see OEM unlocking option greyed out. Now you can install TWRP Recovery & custom ROMs and also you can root your phone.
