The Lord of The Rings is an amazing movie and so are its books. Well, there is a new The Lord of the Rings game on the horizon. Of course, there have been lots of Lord of the Rings games but the new one begs to be different. As it is with anything related to The Lord of the Rings, there is always excitement and thrill around it. The game is being developed by Daedalic Entertainment. The story for the new game is being taken from J.R.R. Tolkien’s novels, we can expect more stories to be narrated. Yes, it will be different from that of the movies and you can expect a different Gollum. Lord of the Rings fans will be excited for the game and even the fact that there is a live-action series that is expected for a release next year. The game was announced back in 2019 with a planned released date somewhere in 2021. However, with Nacon chipping in to publish the game. Early this year, Nacon released a tweet about the game being pushed to a release date of 2022. Other details such as what part of the year has not been revealed yet.

The official teaser trailer for the game was revealed in 2020. The teaser shows off a few caves and Gollum crawling out to the entrance to see an active volcano. There is even background music of what you would hear in an Epic movie to that of The Lord of The Rings. And, finally this year in March we also got to see an official sneak peek trailer of the game. The Lord of the Rings Gollum trailer shows off more of Gollum crawling away as fast as he can from the enemies as well as a few dialogues of Gollum as well.

In this new Lord of the Rings Gollum game, you get to explore the world of the Middle Earth as Gollum by crawling. People have joking called it a crawling simulator for the very same reason. The story is about Gollum’s chase for his precious ring. You get to experience the world through the eyes of a twisted mind from Mordor through Mirkwood to the minds of Moriar. Various events take place but the end will decide the fate for everyone on Middle Earth. Gollum has already traveled through most of the places and has even met a ton of people in-game.

The Lord of the Rings Gollum game is also set to showcase a wide and detailed environment. There is a mix of stealth, action, and parkour in the gameplay. Everyone on Middle Earth has only one goal in their mind, to capture Gollum dead or alive. In-game you will get to see a lot of the known characters as well as a few new characters. We finally get to see Gandalf, Thranduil, and the Mouth of Sauron.

Everything in-game is based on the decisions that you make. Your choices will reflect right away onto Gollum’s personality. Of course, you do get to play as either Gollum and Smeagol. You get to choose if you want the dark side of Gollum to take over or you want Smeagol to take over. As described in the game- One mind, Two egos.

The new Lord of the Rings game will be available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One. Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch as well as for PC via Steam. As of now, we do not know if it will be available to play on any of the cloud gaming services such as Google Stadia, Amazon Luna, or for that matter if it will be available on the popular Nvidia Geforce Now. There is also no information available yet about the game releasing as an early access game or if it would have any kind of beta testing period months before the game’s planned release date.

For the newer generation consoles, we can expect gameplay at around 4K with higher frame rates and also the FPS Boost mode for the newer Xbox consoles. Whereas for PC the system requirements are yet to be revealed. But by just looking at whatever clips that have been revealed by the developers, we can assume that it would require you to have at least a GTX 970 or similar paired with at least 4 GB of RAM and a CPU similar to or better than an Intel i3 5th generation CPU. However, it is best to wait for the official system requirements list from the game developers themselves which could be revealed later by the end of this year or early next year.

So far, the game looks to be quite interesting and might be able to gather a lot of players. With that being said, the developers have stated that if the game does well, we could get to see two new Lord of the Rings games based around two different characters. Also, if you take a look at the jobs that have been posted out by Daedalic, they are currently on the lookout for a Scripter and a Systems Manager exclusively for The Lord of The Rings: Gollum. Apart from The Lord of the Rings, Daedalic also has 10 other games that are expected to coming soon later this year, and some of them are as next year’s releases.

While we do have some information about the game, people are out there waiting for even more information such as a proper gameplay walk-through and even more details about the characters present in the game. It would be quite interesting to see how the game performs on the Nintendo Switch and if we could get to see the game playable on the new Steam Deck by Valve. Well, it’s a Lord of the Rings game that doesn’t seem to disappoint and we hope to see additional content being developed for the game which could drop as DLCs. Only time will speak for the game when it comes out sometime next year.
