The wait is finally over for the Xperia 5 V owners as Sony has finally started rolling out the anticipated Android 14 update for the upper mid-range smartphone. The Japanese smartphone maker had already released the new software upgrade for the Xperia 1 V and the Xperia 10 V.
Today, the company has officially shared the news of the Xperia 5 V Android 14 rollout by sharing a post on Instagram. The Instagram post also confirms the new features and other details of the new software upgrade.
Sony is pushing the major software upgrade with the 67.1.A.2.182 software version which weighs around 1.3GB in download size. At the moment, the update is in a rolling phase; a wider rollout should commence in a matter of time.
Talking about the features and changes, then the Android 14 update is rolling out with many new features like Monochrome themes, flash notifications, more customization options, use your phone as a webcam, a new battery settings page, even bigger fonts, improved privacy and security, and many other features. Speaking of the flash notifications, then you can now choose from 12 color options.
If you own Sony Xperia 5 V, the update can arrive anytime. But you first need to make sure its running the latest Android 13 build. The update will be available over the air. So make sure to check for update regularly.
You can check for the update in Settings > About Phone > Software Update > check for the new updates. Once the update is available, create a backup and charge your phone to at least 50% before updating the device.
