Sony kicks off the new year by rolling out the Android 14 update for three more of its phones. The Xperia trio from 2022, consisting of the Xperia 1 IV, Xperia 5 IV, and Xperia 10 IV, have now joined the Android 14 party, with all three phones receiving the stable Android 14 update.
Sony initiated the Android 14 update rollout in late 2023, commencing with the Xperia 1 V. Within a few weeks, both the Xperia 10 V and Xperia 5 V also received the update. Now, it’s time for the fourth generation of the Xperia Mark lineup.
Sony officially announced the update through their official X/Twitter handle. The tweet, however, lacks technical details such as the build number. We anticipate the update is being rolled out in multiple regions.
The Android 14 update for Xperia 1 IV, 10 IV, and 5 IV brings some useful features. The key features include Flash notification, Find MY Device app compatibility, Expanded Nearby Share feature, and add shortcuts in lock screen. Other changes include updates to Photo Pro, Game Enhancer, Video Pro, and more.
The Android 14 update is rolling out in batches. If you own Xperia 1 IV, Xperia 5 IV, or Xperia 10 IV, all you need to do is wait for the update to arrive on your phone. If you miss notification, you can manually check for the update from Settings.
Before installing the update, make sure to take the backup of your phone and charge it to at least 50%.
