One UI 5.1 is the latest custom OS update for Galaxy phones. It was released earlier this month along with the Galaxy S23 series. And as expected the new One UI 5.1 update is now rolling out to other Galaxy phones including foldable phones.
Following the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy S21 series, and Galaxy S20 series, the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are also getting the latest One UI 5.1 update with several improvements. There is also bad news related to the update which you will get to know later in this new article.
Samsung usually releases a big incremental update with a new premium phone lineup. And these updates roll out widely to more Galaxy phones as the new phones begin shipping. As per the latest news, the Galaxy S23 series is already shipping to the users who pre-ordered the phone. This means that it has started becoming available before the given date of February 17. And hence this is the reason for the early rollout of the One UI 5.1 update.
Only a day ago we posted a confirmed One UI 5.1 release plan shared by Fido carrier. But the update is already rolling out to other regions and carriers.
Galaxy Z Fold 4 One UI 5.1 update is rolling out in Germany and the Netherlands with the build number F936BXXU1CWAC. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is getting One UI 5.1 update in F926BTBU3EWB1 in Thailand and India. One UI 5.1 for Galaxy Z Flip 3 is also rolling out in the same region but with build number F711BXXU4EWB1.
One UI 5.1 is a big update and it weighs around 2GB at least on Galaxy S22. Along with the One UI 5.1 update, Galaxy phones are also receiving February 2023 Android security patch. The update brings many new features and changes, however, there is disappointing news that the update doesn’t bring select an object from an Image or Video on Galaxy phones other than the Galaxy S23 series.
Samsung is pushing the latest software to eligible phones with a flurry of new features and enhancements. In terms of changes and features, the One UI 5.1 update comes with features such as a new battery widget, support for family sharing album in the Gallery app, quick access to the Expert RAW camera app, improved AR emojis and AR zone, enhancements for stock apps, collaborating in Samsung Notes, Samsung Internet, and more.
If you are 3rd gen or 4th gen Galaxy foldable user then you can expect the One UI 5.1 update soon. Just like other Android updates, this is also a batch rollout which means it will be available in batches of users. So it can take time to complete the rollout.
Sometimes the OTA update notification doesn’t work and so in that case you should manually check for the update by going to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. Before upgrading your phone make sure to backup important data and charge your phone to at least 50%.
