Samsung Galaxy A22 is the latest phone to receive the Android 12 based One UI 4.1 update. Yes, the entry level Galaxy A22 is finally getting the stable Android 12 Update. At the end of last year, Samsung shared the Android 12 roadmap for Samsung phones. And as we know Samsung is one month ahead of schedule, we get to see the Galaxy A22 Android 12 update early. Let’s find out more about the Android 12 for Galaxy A22.
The stable Android 12 update for Galaxy A22 is currently rolling out in Europe more specifically in Russia. It is expected that other regions will also join the party soon. Samsung is almost finished rolling out the Android 12 update to its eligible phones. Now only about four or five phones are left as per the roadmap.
Samsung Galaxy A22 is an entry-level phone which was released about a year ago with Android 11 based One UI 3. The device later received some security updates. But the Android 12 is the first major update for the device.
The Android 12 update for Galaxy A22 comes with firmware build A225FXXU3BVD8. And as it is a major update the size of the update will be around 1GB or more. So it is recommended to use WiFi for the update process.
The Android 12 based One UI 4.1 update also improves the Android security patch to April 2022 on Galaxy A22. Android 12 update also brings a bunch of new features and improvements. Some of these features are new widgets, very smooth animations while opening and closing apps, overhauled quick panel, automatic dark mode for wallpapers, icons, and illustrations, new charging animation, and much more. The One UI 4.1 also brings some additional features like Google Duo live sharing feature, new image editing features including reflection and shadow eraser, share multiple files simultaneously using Quick Share feature, and more. As of now we don’t have a complete changelog, but once it is available we will share it with you.
If you are a Samsung Galaxy A22 user in Russia then you should receive the over the air update soon, if you haven’t received it already. Sometimes the OTA update notification doesn’t work, and so in that case you can manually check for the update from Settings > Software Update. The update is rolling out in batches so don’t worry if the update doesn’t show up as it can take a few days sometimes.
You can also manually sideload the firmware if you want the update immediately. But it is recommended only to users who are well aware of the Odin tool. You can download the firmware from Frija tool, Samsung Firmware Downloader. If you are using one of the tools then enter your model and country code and download the firmware. Once downloaded, you can flash the firmware using Odin Tool. Then flash the firmware to your device. If you want to do so, then I recommend you take a backup prior to diving into the process and also charge it to at least 50%. That’s it.
