Redmi Note 9 gets Android 12 based MIUI 13 update

The wait is finally over! Xiaomi has started rolling out Android 12 based MIUI 13 for Redmi Note 9. At the moment, the upgrade’s availability is limited to the vanilla Redmi Note 9, it will be available for other Note 9 series phones soon. The new software is rolling with a bunch of new features, improvements, and newer security patch. Read along to know more about Redmi Note 9 MIUI 13 update.

Android 12 firmware goes live with V13.0.1.0.SJOMIXM firmware version for global variant of Redmi Note 9, wider rollout should follow soon in other regions. The Note 9 series was introduced in 2020 with Android 10 OS, last year, the device received its first major software upgrade in the form of Android 11. Later, received an incremental MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition OTA. And now it is time for the second big OS upgrade, if you’re using the Redmi Note 9, then you can now upgrade to Android 12 based MIUI 13.

Xiaomi pushes the MIUI 13 OTA with July 2022 monthly security patch, alongside the new features. Talking about the features, the changelog confirms support for the new widgets system. Other than that, the new skin brings optimized file storage system, RAM optimization engine, processor priority optimization, extended battery life of up to 10%, new wallpapers, sidebar, and other features. If you own a Redmi Note 9 smartphone, then you can now update your phone to the new Android 12 update. Although, for the time being, it is in a rolling phase and will be available to everyone in the coming days. You can head over to the Settings then system updates to check out the new updates. If youโ€™re in a hurry, then you can manually update your smartphone to MIUI 13 with recovery ROM.

Before updating your phone, make sure to take a backup of important data and also charge your phone to at least 50%.
