OxygenOS 13 Closed Beta live for OnePlus 8T and OnePlus 9R

OnePlus recently announced its Android 13 based OxygenOS 13. And soon after the announcement, OnePlus starts recruiting closed beta testers. OnePlus 8 series and OnePlus 9RT already received the closed beta. While for the OnePlus 10 Pro, OOS 13 is currently in open beta testing. Today OnePlus has started accepting closed beta program applications for OnePlus 8T and OnePlus 9R. Here’s what you need to know about Android 13 based OxygenOS 13 closed beta for OnePlus 8T and OnePlus 9R.

Google has already released stable Android 13 for Pixel phones, and that means other OEMs like OnePlus and Samsung will try to release their version of Android 13 to the public as soon as possible. In the case of OnePlus, the OEM is expected to release the stable OxygenOS 13 for the OnePlus 10 Pro soon. But for other OnePlus phones, it will take time as it is currently available in closed beta.

The OxygenOS 13 closed beta program for OnePlus 8T and OnePlus 9R is limited to 200 users per device. So only the first 200 users will be selected for the OnePlus 8T and the same goes for the OnePlus 9R. And the closed beta program is currently available for Indian units.

If you are not aware of the OnePlus beta testing phase, Closed Beta is the early testing phase limited to only a few seats. And then after one or two months comes the Open Beta which is available for all users. After one or two months of open beta testing, the stable version arrives to everyone.

OxygenOS 13 comes with new features and a bunch of changes including a new user interface. It finally brings the close to the material you theming. The new UI on OxygenOS 13 is inspired by aquamorphic design and it looks great. There are changes in Always on display, widgets, homescreen management, animations, and many others. Also, it brings some features of Android 13. So if you want to test OxygenOS 13 early then you can apply for the closed beta.

Before you apply for the OxygenOS 13 closed beta on your OnePlus 8T or OnePlus 9R, you should know that it is the first beta build and so it can have major issues. But if you don’t mind bugs or have these phones as a secondary device, then you can apply. Also, OnePlus asks users to sign NDA (non-disclosure agreement) to not reveal anything.

To apply for Android 13 Closed Beta, OnePlus 8T users can visit this page and OnePlus 9R can visit this page. You can enter your details in the application form and submit it. Once you submit the application, OnePlus will verify it and if you have made it to 200 seats then you will get the update over the air. To manually check for updates, go to Settings > About device > Up to date or Available Updates.
