Another Oppo phone has joined the list of phones that are getting the official Android 13 update. Yes, the Oppo Reno 8 5G is the latest Oppo phone to receive the Android 13 based ColorOS 13 update. The OEM has already rolled out the update for the Find X5 series, Find X3 Pro, and Reno 8 Pro 5G. Now it’s time for the base variant users to enjoy the Android 13 features.
Android 13 was released by Google for Pixel phones in August. And after taking a few weeks for testing, other OEMs are also rolling out stable Android 13 for eligible phones. As of now, some top phones have already received the update and over time it will roll out to all users. As usual, Oppo shared the ColorOS 13 roadmap for November early this month, and as mentioned in the roadmap, the update finally lands on Oppo Reno 8.
The Oppo Reno 8 5G is getting the stable Android 13 update in India. But soon it will be available in other regions. The update is available with build number C.13. And it is available on devices running the latest Android 12 build A.17. It is the first major update for the device as it was released with Android 12.
Since it is a major update, it weighs more than incremental updates. You can expect the update size even more than 4GB. So make sure to use WiFi for downloading the update and clear about 10GB storage before updating your phone.
Talking about changes and new features, the update includes many features such as Aquamorphic design, new and big widgets, more theme palettes, improved animations, new icons, enhanced gaming, improved privacy and security, and many other changes. The update might also upgrade Android security patch.
If you are an Oppo Reno 8 5G user, you will receive the OTA update on your phone after following some steps. To get the update go to Settings > About Device > Tap the top content > Tap the icon on the top right. Here you can choose Beta Program > Official > Apply Now. Now go to About Device from settings and Download the update once available.
Before updating your phone, make sure to take a backup of your phone and charge it to 50%.
