After a long wait, Oppo has finally opened the Android 16-based ColorOS 16 closed beta for the Find X8 and Find X8 Pro. While Google, Samsung, and Xiaomi moved early with their Android 16 updates, Oppo users were left waiting until now. Oppo has officially kicked off its Android 16 journey with the closed beta phase.
The ColorOS 16 Closed Beta program is live in India, Indonesia, and Malaysia. While interested users can now join the closed beta program, it’s not recommended to use it on a phone you use daily.
The closed beta program is the initial phase of beta testing, which may contain numerous minor and major bugs. After CBT, there will be an open beta program followed by the stable release. Therefore, there is a long way ahead before the Android 16-based ColorOS 16 is released to the public in the stable channel.
Oppo has limited the number of users for each model who can participate in the ColorOS 16 closed beta to 300. The application for the Android 16 closed beta is open until August 12. This means those who have a Find X8 or X8 Pro and register for the closed beta early will have a higher chance of getting accepted into the program.
If you’re from an eligible region and have a Find X8 or Find X8 Pro, and you want to be part of the Android 16 closed beta program, your phone must be running CPH2651_15.0.0.832(EX01) or CPH2651_15.0.0.840(EX01) in the case of the Find X8, and CPH2659_15.0.0.840(EX01) in the case of the Find X8 Pro. Once you have confirmed it, you can follow the steps below to apply for the CBT.
Go to Settings > About device > Tap the top of the page > Click the top right button > Beta Program > Fill in your information (This is important, as we’ll send you a message with the link to the official Telegram group) > Apply Now.
Once your application is selected, you’ll receive the Android 16 update on your device. Keep an eye out for the message, as Oppo will send you the link to their official Telegram channel where you will find details on how to install the update.
As you already know, the closed beta program is the early testing program, so be aware of the frequently encountered bugs on the device. These issues will be addressed with updates. If you prefer a build that is closer to stability, you can wait for the open beta program, which will also have a larger quota.
