OnePlus 9R, OnePlus 8T, and OnePlus 8 series are getting C.16 update

OnePlus releases updates for the OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, 8T, and 9R mostly at the same time. And these are the four latest OnePlus phones that got Android 12 a few weeks back. But there were many bugs in the update so the OEM released the bug fix update C.15. Unfortunately, it also had some issues and hence, OnePlus now starts rolling out the OxygenOS C.16 update for the OnePlus 8 series, OnePlus 8T, and OnePlus 9R.

The previous OxygenOS C.15 update fixed the charging issue on some phones but increased the battery consumption. Some OnePlus users reported that the app named Quick Device Connect is consuming most of the battery (even more than 50%). Some were using alternatives to fix this like upgrading Quick device connect app or uninstalling the update.

The issue seems to have reached OnePlus and they have released a patch update for it. But they have not shared it on the official OnePlus forum, Although some users have already received the update in Europe and some other regions. Yes, these three phones are getting the OxygenOS C.16 build update with the same changelog.

If you are a OnePlus 8/8 Pro/8T/9R user then you should receive the update in a few days if you haven’t received it already. As per the comments in the forum, some users in Europe & India have already received the update. You can manually check for the update by going to Settings > About Device > Software Update.

OnePlus also allows users to update their phones manually using the local upgrade method. This option has been removed from Android 12 so you need to first install the OnePlus local update app. Now you can download the C.16 OTA file and install it through the app.

Before upgrading to the latest version, make sure to take a backup of your data and also charge your phone to at least 50%.
