OnePlus 9R and OnePlus Nord have received a new update that brings the latest January 2022 Android security patch. January 2022 is the latest security patch that is currently available for a bunch of phones. And OnePlus has also released it in many of its phones. And now the original Nord and the OnePlus 9R are getting the latest OxygenOS updates which also brings the January 2022 Security Patch.
OnePlus Nord received the OxygenOS 11.1.8.8 update earlier today and about a few hours later, OnePlus rolled out OxygenOS 11.1.7.7 for the OnePlus 9R as well. Both are minor updates that come with bug fixes and new security patches. Since both the updates contain only a few changes, they also weigh less. Below you can find the complete changelogs for both the updates.

OnePlus 9R OxygenOS 11.1.7.7 Update Changelog
System
- Improve system stability
- Updated Android security patch to 2022-01
As mentioned earlier, both the updates are almost identical. Talking about availability, like other updates, new updates are also being released in batches. Since this is a phased rollout, users will get the OTA update in groups. So if you haven’t received the update, you can expect it to be available in the next few days.
Sometimes the update notification doesn’t show up, so in that case, you can manually check for the update by going to Settings > System > System Update. If you want the update immediately, then luckily OnePlus allows manual update using OTA zip file. You can download the OTA package from the Oxygen Updater app or from the official OnePlus download page. Make sure to download the correct file by checking the region and version.
After downloading the file you can sideload it from Settings > System > System Update. In system, update click on Gear icon on the top right corner and select Local upgrade. Now browse for the file and install it. Reboot your phone and enjoy.
Before upgrading to the latest version, make sure to take a backup of your data and also charge your phone to at least 50%.
