[Available in India] OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro get OxygenOS 11.0.9.9 with October Security Patch

The OnePlus 8 series has finally received an incremental update after a long hiatus. The last update was released in August with multiple features. However, the new OnePlus 8 series OxygenOS 11.0.9.9 update does not come with any new features. After all, this was expected as OnePlus has already started working on Android 12 based OxygenOS 12 and they have already released the final beta for OnePlus 8 based on Android 11. Read on to find out what’s new in OxygenOS 11.0.9.9 for OnePlus 8. Phone.

Android 12 based OxygenOS 12 is currently available as a beta for the OnePlus 9 phone and the stable build will be rolling out for the device soon. And OnePlus 8 is also expected to get Android 12 early next year i.e. 2022. Before that, we could get several Android 12 beta updates directly for the device. As of now, there is no official confirmation on when they will start testing Android 12 for the OnePlus 8.

It is possible that we may also get some more small incremental updates like this before the Android 12 update. The new Android 11 based incremental update for the OnePlus 8 comes with the build number OxygenOS 11.0.9.9.IN21XA (X=A, B, D) and the OnePlus 8 Pro with the build number OxygenOS 11.0.9.9.IN11XA. Since this is a small update, the size of the update may be less than 100 MB.

OxygenOS 11.0.9.9 for OnePlus 8/Pro

The incremental update is currently rolling out in Europe and soon it will be available in India (available now) and North America. So if you are a OnePlus 8 or 8 Pro user in Europe you will get the OTA update on your phone. As usual, it is a batch rollout which means OTA delivery time will vary for users. To manually check for the update you can go to Settings > System > System Update.

In case you don’t want to wait for the OTA, then you have the option to manually install the update using the OTA file. You can download the OTA update file from the Oxygen Updater app or any trusted website. And then you can install it from Settings > System > System updates > Settings icon > Local Upgrade. Now select the downloaded file and wait for the process.
