While we are expecting the Android 12 update, OnePlus is still working on the OxygenOS 11 update which is based on Android 11. As of now, only the OnePlus 9 series has received the Android 12 update. A new update to the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T series brings the latest Android security patch. Let’s find out what’s new in OxygenOS 11.0.6.1 for OnePlus 7/7 Pro and OnePlus 7T/7T Pro.

Recently, OnePlus rolled out the update for a bunch of phones including the OnePlus 9 series, OnePlus 9R, Nord 2, and others. And the main changes in these updates are the latest Android security patch. And we get to see the same change in the latest updates of OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7T, and OnePlus 7T Pro.

The last OxygenOS update for the OnePlus 7 and 7T series was released in December last year. And so this is the first update of this year for both series. The new OxygenOS 11.0.6.1 update comes with build number 11.0.6.1.GM57xA (OnePlus 7), 11.0.6.1.GM21xA (OnePlus 7 Pro), 11.0.6.1.HD65xA (OnePlus 7T), 11.0.6.1.HD01AA/11.0.6.1.HD65BA (OnePlus 7T Pro).

This is a small incremental update that comes in a smaller size. And it only brings some changes like February 2022 Android security patch. The changelog is the same for both the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7T series. You can check out the full changelog below.

  • Updated Android Security Patch to 2022.02
  • Improved system stability

As usual, it is a staged rollout which means a batch of users will get the update first. And later in a few days, it will be available to all users. So if you are a OnePlus 7 or OnePlus 7T user, you can check for the update manually by going to Settings > System > System Update.

OnePlus also allows us to install updates locally. So if you want to update your phone immediately, you can install the OTA zip file. You can get the Incremental OTA zip file on the Oxygen Updater app or from the official OnePlus website. After downloading the correct OTA zip, you can sideload it from System Update > Gear icon > Local Upgrade. Select the OTA file and it will install on your phone. Reboot and enjoy the new update.

Before upgrading your phone, make sure to take a full backup and also charge your phone to at least 50%.
