Last month, Nothing rolled out the anticipated Nothing OS 2.5 stable update to Phone 2 and kick-started the testing for Phone 1. Today, the company has released a second open beta with a flurry of improvements and fixes.
As always, the company has officially shared all details on its community forum. As per the details, the update will be pushed over the air to users already in open beta. If you are on the stable Nothing OS 2.0.5, then you need to enroll in the beta program and then update to the second open beta.
Talking about the features and changes, then the Nothing Phone 1 Nothing OS 2.5 open beta 2 brings better compatibility with certain chargers, optimized performance when memory is low, optimization for background processes, optimized VoLTE icon display in the status bar, and newer January 2024 monthly security patch.
Apart from these changes, the update comes out with better brightness for Night Mode photography, overall smoothness while taking pictures, enhanced sound effects for specific games, the ability to pull down access to Quick Settings for network and connectivity options from the lock screen, and more.
Moving to the fixes, then the update addresses a big list of issues, here’s the complete list of bug fixes coming with second beta of Nothing OS 2.5.1 based Android 14.
- Improved display to correct abnormal notification background colours.
- Resolved unresponsive Bluetooth icon in the Quick Settings.
- Resolved noise issues with Bluetooth audio devices in specific scenarios.
- Resolved issue where battery percentage was not displayed in the status bar.
- Resolved abnormal display issues with the clock widget.
- Improved stability of the System UI.
- Resolved unresponsive calculator widget on the lock screen.
- Fixed overlapping issue between lightweight notifications and banner notifications in Game Mode.
- General bug fixes and improvements.
As I said earlier, if your phone is already running on the first open beta, then you may have already received the second beta on your phone. In case you are on the stable Nothing OS 2.0.5, then you can follow these steps to join the beta program and then update to the second open beta.
- First update your Nothing Phone 1 to latest stable Nothing OS build. And backup your data.
- Download Nothing OTA apk and install it on your phone.
- Now navigate to Settings > System > Update to Beta version.
- Tap “Check for new version” to get started.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
