Realme announces extended update support for Realme P series

Summarize This Article:

Realme, after extending the Android update support for its Realme number series, has announced the same update policy for its Realme P series.

Most budget phones only receive around one or two OS updates, which is not enough for the devices in the long run. The Realme P series was also eligible for the two OS updates and three years of security updates. However, starting now, select old models and new models are eligible for three years of OS updates and four years of security updates.

The latest announcement applies to Realme P3, P3 Pro, P3 Ultra, P4, P4 Pro, and upcoming devices in the P series (excluding the x models). All these devices are now eligible for the 3+4 years update policy.

The Realme P3 series was launched recently with Android 15, is now confirmed to receive three major OS updates, ensuring support up to Android 18. Similarly, if the upcoming Realme P4 launches with Android 15, it will also be eligible up to Android 18.

Here’s the official statement from Realme’s Head of Product Marketing:

As I am rebooting realme’s brand strategy in India and trying to make our product lines leaner. New P series is clearly defined for Online Consumers and to compete with VIVO and Moto on Flipkart.
We won’t forget 3 million users of P series, P3 Ultra/P3 Pro/P3 will all support 3 Major Android Version and 4 Years of Regular Updates. Same policy for P4 Pro and P4.

This is a positive move from Realme that’s likely to build more trust among users, especially those looking for budget-friendly phones they can rely on for several years. What do you think about the extended update support? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
