Motorola Razr 5G starts getting Android 12 stable update

Motorola Razr 5G, the company’s second clamshell now starts receiving the major Android 12 software upgrade. The new update comes after 17 months of the Android 11 update. The Razr 5G was released in 2020 with Android 10 OS, last year, it received the Android 11 update and now it is getting its second OS upgrade. Motorola has started pushing the Android 12 update to the Razr 5G with the S2PS32.57-23-21 software version. As it is a major upgrade, it weighs around 1.55GB in size. At the time of writing, the update is in a rolling phase and available in select regions, wider rollout should follow soon.

Some users had already received it, here’s a thread created by a Reddit user (u/dtingley11222) sharing a screenshot of OTA notification, whereas the second screenshot is about the update version shared on Motorola Lovers Twitter handle.

In terms of changes, the Motorola’s My UX based Android 12 comes with features like Material You, an updated notification panel, new widgets, extra-dim functionality, and a bunch of security and privacy features. Apart from that, the update comes with a slew of customization options such as font style, size, colors, icon shapes, layouts, wallpapers, and more from the home screen menu.

If you own the Motorola’s 2020 clamshell aka the Moto Razr 5G, then the wait for Android 12 is just over, you can head over to the Settings > System > Advanced > System updates and check for the new updates. As I said earlier, the upgrade is rolling in different phases, if the update is not available yet, you can wait for a few days.

If the update is not available, you can wait for a few days or update it manually. Before updating your phone make sure to charge it to at least 50% and also make a backup of important data.
